About CourseCompass

We help you navigate online learning—without wasting tuition or subscription fees on the wrong fit.

Our mission

The online education market is crowded. New cohorts, subscriptions, and "masterclasses" launch constantly—often with polished trailers and vague promises. CourseCompass exists to help adult learners and career switchers compare options with clarity: what you actually get, who it is for, and whether the price matches the outcome.

We emphasize experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trust (E-E-A-T): writers with backgrounds in instructional design, professional training, or subject-matter teaching; primary sources such as syllabi and refund policies; and updates when platforms change pricing or credentials.

How we review

  • We study the curriculum and delivery model. Self-paced vs. live, project requirements, community support, and assessment style all affect whether a course fits a busy schedule—we spell that out up front.
  • We compare pricing and access terms. Subscriptions, one-time purchases, refunds, and free trials are summarized so you can budget before you commit.
  • We weigh outcomes and credibility signals. Certificates, instructor credentials, employer recognition, and student-reported results (where reliable) inform our verdicts—not marketing slogans alone.

When a provider grants complimentary access or sponsors content, we disclose it. Sponsored placements are labeled clearly and never replace our independent conclusions.

Affiliate disclosure

CourseCompass may earn a commission when you purchase a course or sign up through certain links on this site. Those programs do not increase your price. Editorial recommendations are based on research and stated criteria; we do not let affiliate partnerships dictate our ratings. If a platform underdelivers, we say so—even when a program is available.
